>>56274430I love HGSS and Gen 2 in general but I've never had a particular attachment to that route, for me it's the vibe of the early game: everything between Violet City and getting to Goldenrod City for the first time. I enjoy the rest of the region too aside from the ugly, ugly fucking cliffside OC route they made to the safari zone in HGSS though I appreciated it for being new content at all.
It's always the early-mid game for me in Pokemon honestly, those initial struggles navigating from whatever podunk town you started in to the first major city with a department store and a handful of things to do. I think those moments in Gen 1(reaching Celadon, especially after the grueling trek through Rock Tunnel), and Gen 2(not so grueling but it feels like you're traveling through the sticks) were more coincidential than intentional since that moment either doesn't happen or doesn't hit the same after that.
