However, it's a decent estimate. Florian and Juliana are 150cm tall, which is the average height for 12-13 year olds. Kieran is the same height, but has considerably wider shoulders than Florian. So he is probably a bit older the MCs, probably about a year.
We know that Carmine was alone at the academy for 2 years before Kieran was allowed to join. So yeah, 14 for Kieran and 16 for Carmine are reasonable guesses.
Fun fact: that would put Drayton at 19, as he is in the same grade as Carmine, but on his third repeat.
