I didn't mind it at first, but I just started playing a game with actual fairy types in it (Unbound) and lmao. This shit is introduced as a way to curb dragons being very powerful and effective. So they do it by... making it just as effective as dragons, if not even moreso. Then they retcon old pokemon with the type (granted, it feels needed for some) and retroactively ruin lots of old mons with this shit. because suddenly lol fairy BTFOs your favorites. Bravo, gamefreak.

Yup. Haven't bought a Pokemon game since X/Y. I exclusively pirate Pokemon games now and never use Fairy type Pokemon or moves. Even on Pokemon Showdown I still refuse to use any Fairy types at all.

I hate it so much and no game with Fairy type can be better than a 5/10.

Fire shouldn't resist fairy because it makes no sense, instead grass should resist fairy
Poison should be super effective on water
Psychic should be super effective on steel
That's my take on how the type chart should be changed and if you disagree you're wrong

They should have added two types in Gen 6 instead of just 1 like they did in Gen 2. Then they could've done more balancing to the existing chart while keeping the flavor of it.

Also this way the other type added could have been a cool type that isn't so pink and effeminate.

But as for it being OP, I think it was a pointless addition but not necessarily OP. OP depends on the mon itself, it's stats, ability and movepool.
