Really most pure typed pokemon would benefit a lot if they had the added normal type. You always get neutral stab on one at least one type that resisted you before. If you already are a defensive mon that can take a stab close combat or focus blast and not be 2hkod, you probably don't want normal added, but if not then the ghost immunity is likely worth it. Everyone makes fun of a potential normal/ice normal/steel normal/rock and the existing normal/dark for being 4x weak to fighting, but really none of those pure types wants to take fighting moves anyway, apart from blissey eating focus blasts, so dying faster to them doesn't really change your game plan, whereas being able to switch into something like calyrex-shadow easier does change it.
