- Set 20 years after X & Y
- A bunch of characters return. Sycamore is still the professor, but Trevor is a budding researcher who is basically your contact throughout the game. Tierno runs a food truck. Shauna is a hairstylist who does Diantha’s hair. Sina returns. Dexio is lost in time. Bonnie returns as a “gym leader”.
- Similarly to PLA, PLZA is heavy on time-travel nonsense. There’s rumour of an “ancient beast” (Zygarde) living under Lumiose, but most consider it a myth.
- The main story involves Looker and Sina investigating Lumiose randomly changing (buildings, shops, streets, people, etc). Your actions in the game give you certain privileges to suggest development changes to the mayor. However, someone in the past (AZ and Dexio) is messing with this because the progress will supposedly awaken Zygarde. All this nonsense ‘reawakens’ mega-evolution, which has been “mostly dormant” for some time.
- Starters are Chikorita, Piplup, and Tepig. They each have a Kalosian final evo. Meganium (Grass/Ghost), Emboar (Fire/Dark), Empoleon (Water/Fighting). All have new Megas.
- Zygarde has a new battle-only form (like Eternatus). This is the only other place you go besides Lumiose (he basically becomes a moon).
- There are five “town ward representatives” that are basically the gym leaders. Bonnie is one of them.
- New megas include the final starter forms, Chesnaught, Delphox, Greninja, Aegislash, Hawlucha, Trevenant, Gourgeist, Claydol, Octillery, Xerneas, Yveltal and Zygarde (seperate from the moon form)
- There are five new Pokemon (evolutions of Honchkrow, Crustle, Dragalge, Doublade split, and Tyrogue (Hitmonchop))
- Aside from starter finals there are three Kalosian formes: chocolate Vanillite line (Ice/Ground), pure-fairy Buneary line, and poison/fairy Koffing line (perfume bottles)
