Still exists in all Pokemon life but Devon's plans to industrialize it couldn't all go through because of ethical concerns.
All of this is already explained in-game and there's no reason to bring up that specific terminology unless you're either Devon or someone researching what powered the weapon.

Game lore says there's universes where the ultimate weapon was fired which led to the discovery of Mega Evolution and there's universes where it didn't so it's probably still a relatively unknown phenomenon.
