Typhlosion is the only Fire starter intentionally designed to fail, People (rightfully) complain about KANTOOOOOOOO pandering now, but Johto was literally born under KANTOOOOOOOs shadow. Game Freak only sees Johto and its dex as an excuse to prop up KANTOOOO and the starters are the biggest victims of that philosophy. Typhlosion wasn't designed to be popular, it was designed to the bargain bin trash you skip over to get to CHARIZARD. No other Fire starter suffers like this because they were allowed to have some breathing from away from CHARIZARD, hence Blaziken being broken and getting a mega on top of that, Infernape being optimized as fuck, etc etc, Any use or success Typhlosion has had is due to Game Freak neglecting to completely kneecap it, and the small segment of fans that like Typhlosion and see it as something more than wingless CHARIZARD is due to Game Freak being too stupid to intentionally design something to be hated.
