and people were hyped as fuck about it, even despite any controversies around mega evolutions, genwun pandering, the colors being a little washed out, or whatever else people didn't like. XY was still GOOD. The postgame was decent, but the 3DS online features were so much better than the DS ones, that I thought it really changed the vibe of the game to feel like everyone was playing together (and you didn't have to pay for it). I was actually excited to streetpass people by carrying my 3DS around at college or when I traveled somewhere. I recall watching the anime in Japanese with people on here and everyone predicting Ash/Satoshi would finally win this time and redeem the fall from grace at the end of Sinnoh and during BW. That didn't happen, but for most of the life of XY, that was how people felt.
