ILCA BW would still be a cashgrab, but it would be better than BDSP on sheer virtue of not being entirely based on an inferior game, since it's a prequel and not an obsolete prototype. They'd probably still add forced affection mechanics and a terrible follower mon implementation though, and outside of the battles themselves it didn't look too good. The water was nice though.

I'm praying that bit is a lie. I just can't see what the hook is if you're not able to actually explore.
The only way I see it improving things is if they make Lumiose as enormous as it appears, but even then what will we do? Like I'll trust the plan for now, but after Arceus I'm wondering if they're keeping the same idea or if Legends games are an excuse to use entirely new gameplay concepts.

I think it can work,
You could have parks, small ponds, rivers.
Pokémon on the streets and roofs, explorwble sky and catacomb.

They could also cheat and let visit a small portiion of nature on the skirts of the city like the swamp and desert just outside Lumiose city.

I imagine it will just follow a formula not dissimilar to Legends Arceus where there's a single hub and you leave it to explore the wilderness beyond it.

It’s been silent because it will release with the Switch 2 at launch or very close to its launch. Of course it’ll also be released on the Switch but it will obviously run better on the 2.

Honestly? I think it will be better than all of Switch games including Legends Arceus since the latter was mostly experimental game (and they still did well) whereas now they'll have more confidence and probably a little more time. Usually the final games of the generation and final games on a console are the best/most polished and most beloved by the fanbase.

This time around its also about a gen that the fanbase have been asking for over a decade. In a way you could say its the most awaited Pokemon game ever. The fanbase has never waited longer for a game than for Pokemon Z. And we're getting it but with a twist: Legends Z-A

They could also do something like Persona, social stuff on one side on the surface, and then you go dungeon battling somewhere else, such as, perhaps, a deep dungeon loosely based on the catacombs of Paris. Slap a few varied environments in there, maybe a few surface spots, idk. Bam, you've got a game set entirely in one city, technically.

This'd be cool if it was a game for kids and not babies. Like if we got the fun writers from the original Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door. If 2004 Nintendo was making this game, I'd be excited. They'd probably put a bit of spice off the beaten path and give the game some real character. But this is modern Pokemon. Everything must be safe and sterile and bland as not to offend anyone. So when everyone sounds the exact same, and the areas all look mostly the same because you're in the same city, and there's tons of buildings you can't go into, it's gonna feel really repetitive. It can absolutely work, but it'd required a ton of effort, which the first parties have proven they won't put in.
