Reality of the situation is lads no-one at Nintendo or Game Freak wants to age the thing up. They have the numbers, they know the kids are the core sales every Gen and the adults, while growing are still nowhere near level with kid engagement. And until humanity's fertility rates crater to dust, there's not going to be a stop on kids being born, to grow older, to get introduced to Pokémon. Which means less point in risking the whole kit and caboodle trying to age the brand and risk losing the widespread sales and interest because "they changed it and it sucks now". Sorry you only rented the kiddy toy, but Game Freak never wanted to sell it to older people.
