In general, what's the point of working for anything in an official pokemon game if any "achievement" you make is completely devalued by hackers. In an MMO, achievements actually mean something. Any grind you undertake is meaningful, and you feel motivated to play by other people playing.
Also, free-to-play. The official pokemon franchise demands you buy a new game every 3 years and a new console every 6 years, it's an endless cycle of buy new product and get excited for new product. PokeMMO's online has literally already outlasted the Nintendo 3DS's online. The switch online will be dead soon too and they'll be forcing the new Switch 2 on you. If you like pokemon, pokeMMO seems like a no-brainer to me, to escape the official pokemon cycle of slop. You can quit pokemmo, come back 10 years later, and your account will still be there.
Also, look at the first post in this thread. Tendie brand loyalists seethe and froth at the mouth at the fact that third parties routinely outperform official Nintendo slop. You are probably one of them though.
I say this as someone who's never even tried PokeMMO. But I'd sooner give it a go than any Nintendo product at this point. If I'm going to invest my time in "pokemon", I'd rather make meaningful progress in an MMO than buy another fucking kiddie console.
