comparing lgpe to rby and frlg, it seems obvious that lgpe was made for people who can't read. when I was 6 I was able to read more than enough to read what to do in the game next. if you can't read at all I could see someone not knowing you have to go get oak's parcel and bring it back to him, but I was able to do that when I was barely 6. LGPE makes it impossible not to miss this like it's on rails, so they definitely were trying to make the game for people who can't read, so literally toddlers aged 2+ and toddlers 4-5 whose parents didn't even bother to try teaching them to read. I know when I was watching looney tunes before I could read so whenever wile e coyote held up a sign or something I wanted to learn how to read to figure out what he's saying. but these games are still completely playable without knowing how to read so why even have the text, even if the kids learn how to read the experience is gonna be the same. it might still encourage them to learn so they can see what's happening but they're gonna have to learn to read anyway or they won't be able to function in society. but yeah they clearly dumbed down the games to the point where you don't even have to be able to read so it's for children aged 0-5 at the most.
