I liked them. The catching mechanic was flawed, but I liked how it broke up gameplay. Trainer battles and wild encounters being 2 very different types of gameplay helped make it so neither of them ever got old. The art style was good and it has the best integration of following pokemon to date. My only complaint is the very limited roster and the fact that it was just a barebones Gen 1 Kanto. Fill up the dex with all the cross gen evos of Kanto mons, and have the Sevi Islands be where you can catch them and get the items for them, and it would be a big improvement. Maybe even add an area like the mansion in DP where some guy imports Alolan forms you can catch instead of making them all in game trades.
