I generally decide whether or not I'm going to play a pokemon game based on its fire starter. If I can at least tolerate its final evolution, I'll probably end up playing it.

Both Skeledirge and Infernape are far from my favorites, and both were borderline. I think the only reasons I went ahead with them is because a divine fire monkey and a ghost fire alligator are not bad concepts, even if the final executions are pretty disappointing and have plenty of room for improvements.

Only Charizard, Typhlosion, and Delphox are designs I can say I really love.

I get why people don't like Emboar, but Unova was the first region where I liked the Fire starter over the others.

I go emboar whenever I replay BW, not because I like the design (think Serperior is the best of the 3), but it's the only starter that has interesting moves.
Samurott and Serperior are basically just stuck with stab moves.

Skele is cool for simply being a fire crocodile. All it needs is to appear in a new Snap game that makes it swim and submerge itself in lava(can also be the same enviroment mons like Groudon and Heatran are found)
