>>56358904Hey! I had the same idea lately. Started with Emerald, but decided to backtrack to Blue and work my way back up before I move on.
I had a blast with Gen 1. The lack of QoL forces you to take things slower, it makes everything inconvenient and requires you to prepare or think ahead to save yourself time. I was abusing Teleport and Dig to get around faster, having to organize my inventory, actually spread my hms across the party this time just to avoid wasting a slot or having to go to pc too much (pain in the ass). I even started writing down which TMs were what, cause I got tired of googling the list.
All that shit is inconvenience, but it made it feel like more of an adventure to me, and made me appreciate some mechanics that can just be ignored in later games.
Moving on, I decided to actually try to dex Gen 1 so I started a Yellow run too with the intent to get to 150 before the league (trading with my Blue, and a Red where I'll exploit glitches to speed run getting what's left lol)
While I'm working on that I moved on to Gen 2 with Crystal, and I didn't get that feeling at all! I was enjoying all the improvements over Gen 1 like the visuals, xp bar, amazing soundtrack, day night cycle, and the new pokemon. I'm enjoying it like it's brand new and all I knew was Gen 1. I've played all the games before though. I'm going to try to dex Gen 2 as well, maybe breed some shinies for fun, and beat the Crystal Battle Tower cause I've never done that.
