only real counters IMO are ghost type, damp, and outspeeding and OHKO'ing with psychic type attacks or powerful STAB.

Rock and Steel types could easily get folded by a critical hit unless overleveled
Fly and Protect could be used on a tackle or sludge.
I mean, fuck, technically even ghost types and damp mons could get fucked over from smokescreen.
if Honedge or Doublade existed in gen 4, it'd be the true hard counter to this team, but since it doesn't? well shit.

For gen 3 at least, the AI is discouraged from using Selfdestruct or Explosion at high HP, and it can't use it on its last Pokemon. If you aren't playing like a retard, you would just one shot all the Koffings with your team of 1-3 appropriately leveled mons.
