I never nickname my Pokemon. After a while, whatever nickname I give it ends up feeling stupid and/or unoriginal. Besides, you never really battle any trainer that uses a nicknamed Pokemon so I don't feel incentivized to do it in the first place.

It'd be neat if some trainers like Gym Leaders had at least one nicknamed Pokemon, but I assume GF decided to avoid that to make the name of Pokemon species stick better to people's mind.
There's a few canonically nicknamed Pokemon throughout the games though, such as Zinnia's Whismur and that Charcadet who has a bond with Mela.

My nicknames are fucking badass and awesome, if I ever saw someone come up with the same nickname as me (never happened yet) I'd just respect them for being as cool as I am

I give most of my Pokemon pretty dumb names or actual human names, so I don't really see anyone else using the same names for the same species. That isn't to imply I think my nicknames are super great or original or anything, they're not, just that they're kind of offbeat or mundane so there's not a lot of overlap.
