That right sprite took up like half the screen, while the left only took a fraction of that because it showed the entire body. That's why you blew it up, which makes the pixels look like they are different sizes.
I don't know if you know this, but when something takes up less space (BW's sprites) they take up less pixels. Do you seethe when movies have humans in the distance that only take up about 20 pixels before blowing them up and saying THESE GRAPHIX SUCK LMAO?
