I fell out of love with Pokémon for a bit, but recently I played through Pokémon RBY entirely in Japanese because I needed some way to practice reading the language with something simple that I knew I would enjoy. I decided to play through the game while talking to every NPC, interacting with everything, and taking notes (to maybe make a video again?) and... somehow, the magic of Pokémon was just there again.

I feel like playing in an entirely new language, one I don't entirely understand easily yet, made it feel like when I was a kid again. Like a sort of brainwash moment in which everything felt new again. It's some of the most fun I have ever had with Pokémon, and suddenly I appreciate Kanto like I never have. I can't wait to do this with the other regions.
