I like the designs but they totally fail on a thematic level. the yin yang thing could have been interesting but it's completely forgotten, and the truth vs ideals thing isn't reflected in their designs or powers at all. it's only conveyed to you through dialogue.
like, with Groudon & Kyogre for example, their connection to weather and sea/land is immediately obvious, through their designs, locations, and abilities. some like Dialga & Palkia are a little more abstract, but they at least have signature moves that reflect their time & space powers and their mythology is built up over the whole game.
I just didn't get that from Resh & Zek, it feels like they wrote the N/Ghetsis story first and then had to shoehorn the legendaries in afterwards. they feel like an afterthought in their own games.
as for design, the worst ones are probably Zacian/Zamazenta. they're just boring and not visually distinct enough.
