>>56420902To make matters worse, at least Gold and Silver had legendaries in different locations, changing up the order of (optional) events, Ruby and Sapphire had at least slightly different villainous teams and goals, and Black and White had completely different appearance for certain locations (not to mention White Forest vs Black City). Diamond and Pearl are literally the exact same game in every facet but with different exclusives. The same is true of X and Y, but at least X and Y have the Kalos dex (the largest regional Dex in the series until Galar DLC was released), making it easy to Y after X with a different team unlike DP which had the worst regional dex in the series. While Platinum and HGSS removed some of the jank from DP like slow surfing, they still retained some of its other flaws like the slow health bar drainage and saving a lot of data.
Someone had posted this in the past, but in Pokemon Pearl, you only have:
-42 potential different fully evolved Pokemon, excluding legendaries and the starters you didn't pick
-36, excluding trade evolutions
-34, excluding Spiritomb and Snorlax
-20, excluding shitmons Kricketune, Bibarel, Wormadam, Mothim, Beautifly, Dustox, Pachirisu, Unown, Girafarig, Carnivine, Lopunny, Lumineon, Sudowoodo, Mr. Mime
Of those 20:
-12 are Water-type
-6 are Normal-type
-9 are Flying-type
DP honestly don't receive enough criticism. I guess it's because Wifi in video games was new at the time and people are nostalgic for those games, but those games really have not aged well at all. BDSP for all its flaws are still much better than vanilla DP.
