If you got rid of /vp/, you'd be adding about 4000+ daily posts to other boards that are already overloaded, like /vg/ and /v/. With the speed at which threads move here, the thread life would be significantly shorter if it was on either of those, compacting day-long threads into probably less than an hour before being archived.
