>>56436365I think it's the region more than anything. I've been playing using SP skins in Delta and I've come to appreciate FRLG graphics a lot. They look much cleaner than RSE, yet the region itself is still not very thrilling. Most of the routes are boring and small in comparison to Hoenn and a lot of the gameplay is in dungeons like Rocket Hideout in Celadon Game Corner and Silph Co. The Kanto cities are larger on average than Hoenn but all of them are similar and tend to blend into one whereas Hoenn cities are distinct and often themed around nature. Think of Fortree, Lavaridge, and Sootopolis. HGSS and LGPE make the Kanto cities more colorful, but overall Kanto is like the basic vanilla Pokemon game if you like battling NPCs or do a speedrun whereas Hoenn is more themed around nature and exploration.
