I just rewatched this recently. Still pretty good, and funny how much Red is framed as the stupid kid playing the game trying to solo everything with Charizard. A couple things I found interesting this time:
Squirtle doesn't learn bite after it can evolve to Wartortle (level 22 in XY, 16 in RBY) and you only see that move on your rival's wartortle once you reach Lavender Town.
Secondly, Red's Charizard takes down Green/Blue's Blastoise with Fire Blast from about 75-80% HP remaining. Even assuming he uses the previous Fire Spin to get Blastoise down to 50% and gets a crit on Fire Blast, this means Charizard has to be right around level 100. The Giovanni fight is very similar.
