Because Archie sold outside of the Direct Market
Within the direct market, IDW DOES do better but the vast majority of IDW's readers don't even buy the comic period

Giving them a "name" is unnecessary, they're just Earthlings like everyone else. In the games, humans don't see or treat them them any differently from their own species.

The planet they live on is Earth, and they're native to Earth, so they're Earthlings.

IIRC, one of the mandates for the IDW was they can't use the term Mobian or Mobius whatsoever in any context.

That was a thing in post-reboot Archie too, because it was meant to bring things more in line with the games, where the planet is just a fantastical version of present-day Earth
