Masuda really is a twisted man. I'll post the accounts of patent infringement on this thread.
But in summary, it is over. PalWorks is a japanese company, which makes them an even easier target.
GameFreak and TPC were probably working on this case for a year or so, cautiously silent. They said they'd take 'no legal action' against PalWorld, which was a dog whistle for the developers to invest more time and money into commiting a crime. PalWorks will have to answer for 50+ accounts of copyright and patent infringement. Some of those happened after Palworld became available in early access on Steam, which means the people at GameFreak were keeping an eye on PalWorld all along. Palworks are also locked out of updating their game (because more copyright accounts will follow), signing in with Sony / Microsoft and displaying their game in public events, since Nintendo is so powerful.
The big companies are also silent, they'll just let Nintendo dismantle and devour PalWorks. It is not just a financial crime, someone might even serve jail time for this. Nintendo is old money, they control the courts, the politicians, they had the Olympics be advertisement for their characters. PalWorks is an actual small indie dev.
The timing of the attack was also strategic, as doing this earlier this year during the hype around the early access would have been bad marketing. They are coming for the kill.
