So very similar to their daddy, Britain which during the most recent establishment of itself as a country was founded on class (back when the Normans invaded in 1066, they installed themselves as the ruling class and still own the majority of land in the UK).
The reason you see Americans obsessed with race is because it's literally in the DNA of their country, they use it as a proxy for social standing and we are social animals. It's fucked up but it is what it is. Most Americans are truly mindfucked though, that's for sure
