But yes, both of his parents are terrible people either way. But it's hard to judge the other one because we know so little about them.

This works for Lusamine because she had literal poison in her brain. The professor didn't even have an excuse, they just really wanted to transport extremely dangerous Pokémon to Paldea cause they thought they were cool, more or less. They didn't even see Arven for years before they died. And even before that, they barely paid him any attention. They ignored the warnings of their AI copy - you know, the one that operated on their own memories and thinks completely logically as a computer.
They are evil. Them not completely despising their son doesn't make them not evil. They barely "went crazy", if at all. They've always been like this, and there is no one else to blame but them.
Is Ghetsis worse? Yes. But that doesn't make everyone less evil than him a good person.
