I've been working on a living dex lately, so I've been playing through some older games. I find myself basically always using a water type, fire type, a grass or electric type (usually eletric honestly, I find many grass types to be underwhelming) and a flying type for Fly, depending on the game. Some games basically require that you also include an HM slave, so this leaves almost no room for any other Pokemon that you would have an interest in adding to your team.

I find myself wanting to branch out and try to use more unique Pokemon that I may not have used before, but I feel limited by the the
