some people don't play any other games besides Pokemon, and don't know how to engage with anything except through a critical lens, so instead of just playing the games and leaving with their honest first impressions, they spend years dissecting them and end up with a cynical, myopic perspective. it's like anything, when you see behind the curtain and know too much about something, it's hard to look at it the same way as you would with fresh eyes. and Pokemon is no different.
