Sinnoh Rival having two mons (Heracross and Munchlax) which require copious amounts of time hunting around honey trees, which runs counter to his impatience gimmick---or copious amounts of luck, which is a story in its own right.

It's also a joke because Munchlax is kind of so-so active, but then turns into a total laze upon evolution into Snorlax---again counter to his characterization.

Their teams synergize terribly with each other since one only does singles and the other does multi, so Ingo has a Mold Breaker Haxorus that spams Earthquake while Emmet's Eelektross is on the field.

People always say that but there's zero indication that anything is different between the two characters. The most you have is people assuming Lusamine was already poisoned by Nihilego which is never even obliquely referenced and is actually people just seeing something where there isn't.

Something similar happens to Cyrus. He first fights you with a Golbat. Then in the final fight, he fights you with a Crobat. This could either indicate that he actually does feel emotions through his emotionless facade or that he merely manipulated his Golbat into growing stronger

This probably isn't intentional, but maybe Jasmine's initial gym team. I believe in both the original and remake, people in the town imply that she swapped her type specialty recently. So all she has is her evolved Onix and two Magnemites she caught recently, which do spawn in the route leading up to Olivine. Although the levels don't match up.

Janine's team is significantly weaker than the other Kanto Gym Leaders, reflecting her status as rookie. In GSC, she doesn't have a single Pokémon at level 40 or higher, and her weakest is just Level 33.
The difference is less dramatic in the remakes where all the Kanto Gym Leaders were buffed to be at least as strong as Lance, but her ace still only matches Lance's Level 50 where everyone else exceeds it.

Lance's three Dragonites are kind of like that. The only ways to obtain Dratini is finding it in one lake in middle of Johto (Crystal only), being acknowledged by elders of the Dragon clan or through poaching (Safari Zone, Game Corner) and that training them is rather difficult task.
And here comes the Chad "Lance" McThundercock and his three fully trained Dragonites.

Emmet's Eelektross actually has Gastro Acid for that, but since it's slow I'm not sure how useful it is. I've not battled against them in Multi so I haven't seen it in action. Apparently the BW AI in Multi and Double Battles will prioritize knocking out one of your pokemon even if it will knock out one of theirs.
At least Archeops is a Flying-type...
It's more of a headcanon but I think that their two Klinklangs could be a cute implied story thing given that Klink are the Unova horoscope version of Gemini.

Trading is a thing. And the Espeon is the celadon one, it's obviously just going for a "generic" team in the sense it's all pokemon handled to you

It's done that way precisely to not indicate any certain playthrought. Hell Yellow didn't even happen in HGSS (FRLG did) and he still has Pikachu
