Last time was about 5 years ago where I used the trainer fly glitch to dex complete without trading and beat up Prof. Oak.

Not really, Emerald outclasses it. Plus due to me buying Omega Ruby, I ended up switching to Sapphire.

Pokemon Red. it was a couple years before my time, but I played my brother's copy. it was a formative gaming experience for me, absolutely loved it. but I haven't played it since FRLG came out to be honest.

When I got the game for Christmas I'd been obsessed with Pokemon for a few months already and knew basically everything that happened in the game but I was still obsessed and replayed it over and over.
After gen 2 came out I never really went back to gen 1 much but I played Red on the 3DS, it's a basic but satisfying Pokemon experience.

Blue version during the height of Pokemania. I took a bit longer than my friends to get into it because I thought japanese cartoons were stupid. I owned a strategy guide for a while before I actually got the game and read it so much I basically had the game memorized before I even played it. Despite that I was still blown away and I've been hooked ever since. I don't really play Blue anymore but I replay Yellow once a year.

Platinum, at a best friends house.
Was told his GBA didn't work and I could play it if I fixed it.
Kinda giggled as I built my first computer at age 8.

I was so silly with it though, playing nothing but all the cutest pokemon.
I got my butt handed to me.

It was on a SD card that doesn't work anymore. I do have Platinum and am currently doing a playthrough of Pearl (Really not that different than Diamond)

I was already a fan of the anime, and had seen my friend play Silver. I loved Sapphire and Hoenn in general, but I remember very little actually. I just play Emerald now, but I gave my Sapphire to my sister a long time ago. Dunno if she still has it.
