With the Paldea group, you start as total strangers, and most of them don't even make a great first impression. The friendship builds up and feels earned. Completely different feel to it.

Penny is definitely the weakest link but she's still entertaining because of how much she clashes with the others. She's a weirdo and that's more charming than someone boring.
