What's right with pokemon battles? What's wrong with them?

For me se are far too strong. The meta game being ohko or die just sucks.

I get it hut in the anime you never see mons dying after one hit. If you do then it's extremely rare certainly not the norm.

Pokemon should have way more HP to counteract what you said.

Switching should be restricted, something like 10 switches per match.

I agree with this.
There's almost no time to set up a strategy or, if you fuck up a single move, you lost.
Maybe add in a new ability to remove stat buffs or something too.

Haze, snatch are all that come to mind besides leer, growl, tail whip.
The mastersex app actually does use a lot of moves and strategy that focus on buffs, debuffs, and type resistances, so now that I think about it, it's odd that the main games kind of neglect it.

They definitely need to separate competitive from single player experiences. I think that's part of why people liked Legends ZA so much, since they didn't have to worry about balancing a competitive scene as well as making a fun single player experience. Doing both at the same time leads to mixed results for both parties as we see in Gens 6-9
