Arguably. It definitely is the most surface level Pokemon game, which probably is why the3 game had a great honeymoon period on here. If you do zero optional content you more or less experience everything worthwhile (and only a few areas are even outstanding to begin with), and most of the post-game content is incredibly centralized and shallow, but the sheer amount of copy-pasted shit tricks people into thinking it's actually good. Like, the Battle Maison might have been the worst Battle Tower before SS in terms of difficulty, but because there's 5 formats it makes brainlets cum even though one of them is functionally mash A braindead and also they cut the online based format that was literally in every previous game with online including Japanese Crystal. When you try to go back to it it's just tedious and there's not much reason to play it over the strong points of ORAS or USUM, let alone some of the games that came before it.

Gen 6 is literally just DP/BW with 3D humans. What upgraded were the battles being fully 3D.

You make a point that the Maison feels easier than a lot of facilities, but I think that's in large-part due to powercreep. It feels so much more limiting in Emerald, but gen 6 has PSS, Megas, new OP items, new OP attacks, new OP hidden abilities, tons more sub-legendaries to use.

That’s BW/BW2.
Can’t even berry farm.
Can’t even use multiple fishing rods.
Can’t even collect ribbons.
Can’t even make Secret Bases.
Can’t even customize your character.
Can’t even chain for shinies.
Battle Tower equivalent doesn’t even use Triple/Rotation Battles.
Battle Frontier replaced with lazy nostalgia pandering and a casualized Battle Pyramid clone.
No Super Training. No Pokemon Amie. No Inverse Battles. No restaurant battles.

The sacrifices and growing pains they made to usher in the 3D era were pointless. Later 3ds were incredibly lacking in postgame and the future proofed models didn't stop the dexcut from happening one console later.
