THEY most likely don't remotely give a shit if they get (you)'s, but the fact that YOU personally decided to deprive them of one implies that YOU actually care if you get (you)'s or not. Basically what you're doing is trying to emotionally taunt the other person by not giving them a (you), but in doing so, what you actually reveal is that getting (you)'s is something that YOU actually care about. You actually think it hurts THEIR feelings not to give them a (you), which tells us that you personally are so insecure that if someone deprived YOU of a (you), it would upset you.
