>>56533579LZA was only announced because TPC assumed that if Pokemon didn't have a mainline announcement at Pokemon Day 2024, headlines would be zooming all over the internet about how "POKEMON IS DEAD!?!?!?!?".
And wouldn't you fucking know it, they were wise to cobble together something for LZA, because just before Pokemon Day, Palworld started gaining traction as a fad. Even if that fad was brief, it could have dealt genuine damage to the Pokemon brand as "POKEMON IS DEAD" headlines begin inbreeding with "PALWORLD SELLING LIKE HOTCAKES" headlines to paint a new narrative of "Pokemon is slacking, so Palworld's showing GameFreak how it's done".
The miserable state of things this year is short term, because in the long run after Pokemon fans are given "salvation" during Holiday Season 2025 by LZA, they'll get to benefit from this drought by putting full investment into the Gen 10 hype train in 2026, ensuring not only will Gen 10 sell gangbusters, but Nintendo benefits more than usual because it'll boost Switch 2 sales drastically in order to catch those still on the fence who weren't yet drawn in by Mario Kart.
