>>56538313Hoeen sort of has a “facsimile” thing too, the problem is whenever game freak tries to do something new and not stuff Kantomons everywhere, they end up falling into the same tropes so you just get a bunch of Kanto-expies. For the most part I think most Unova mons do enough to stand out but it takes away a bit of fun from having over 150 new mons when a lot are the same trope as Kanto.
Also while I love the decision of having only new mons, 150 is not enough especially because (unova has a lot of legendaries (most won’t be used in normal play), and the late evos means you might not get to use many 3rd stages, and the relatively linear way the world opens up limits what mons you have access to at any one time. Without old mons to fill out some common spots you just end up running into a lot of the same pokemon again and again
