>>56545317Pokemon was already going into somewhat of a downfall by gen 4 (I know some tards will try to bring gen 3 into this shitfest because "muh pokemania" but it was well received at the time), most old players like me were just kinda tired of the series by then, not helped by gen 4 feeling like more of the same despite having legitimately good stuff like (mostly) great mon designs, interesting mechanics like the underground and finally fixing types via the physical/special split. By gen 4 a new generation was picking up the series, but I still remember many of us at least giving gen 4 a pass despite it's flaws, but when gen 5 started leaking out and folks started getting news from it's release in Japan things were really grim, the gen 5 starters looked pretty unappealing, most of the other mons that got leaked/revealed also didn't inspire confidence, then the bombshell dropped "you can only use Unovan mons during your playthrough", no other gen did this before it, even gen 3 which had a great new number of mons still kept older mons around at a good enough number for variety, that coupled with how unappealing to shitty the previously mentioned mons are was catastrophic, the last straw was the anime, I thought gen 4's anime was kinda boring but I kept up with it for a time, the gen 5 anime by comparison was the shittiest Pokemon related thing I had seen by then and it was the thing that fully killed my interest in Pokemon. Still kinda related I guess, but gen 5 started the whole trend of forcefully shoving niggers and such into the games because "MUH DIEVERSITY".
