It is real, it helps to think up a consistent "dreamworld" with specific starting point, set intention, and if you ever do dream and remember, journal it so you train your brain to think it's important. That helps with dream recall.
You can try going on a pokemon adventure, even, but that has never worked for me sadly. I have had other ones, more reality grounded.
My last tip for dreams or lucid dreaming, do "wake checks" throughout the day to test if you're dreaming (even though you will know you arent) Example - plug your nose and try to breathe. You can't. Eventually, you will end up doing it in a dream out of habit. Except, you WILL be able to breathe while holding your nose in the dream because irl your arm is limp and your nose isn't plugged. Chances are you'll get so excited you wake up when you realize. Just try again.
