>>56553739It meant to me that when I was on vacation skiing at Crested Butte, CO. Eventually, we ended up at a fancy hotel in Las Vegas with nothing to do for the long ass flight back home. So my brother and I decided to sneak out at midnight to go to Walmart (we were 15 and 13 at the time). When we made it to walmart at 1am, the guy there had so many tumors on his face/neck that I was extremely uncomfortable to even touch the pokemon diamond version he handed us.
Eventually after checking out, we make our long hike back to the hotel on foot. When we get to the stoplight right before the hotel, a black suburban pulls up next to us and the window rolls down. It's our step-mom at the time saying "GET IN THE FUCKING CAR"
Well, needless to say, my brother never got to play Diamond version and we got grounded so hard for the next... 11 years or so. Lost all of our consoles and all of our spoiled rich millennial toys.
Now, that wasn't the reason I disliked Pearl. Pearl made me realize where pokemon was going and that Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire were the last time we'll have a good game (like comparing Quake 3 to Quake 4, or Doom 2 to Doom 3.)
If it wasn't for diamond and pearl, I wouldn't have appreciated Ruby/Sapphire as much as I would have. I appreciate gen 4 for making gen 3 look superior. The only thing I liked about gen 4 was Cynthia. She's great for AI prompting.
