For me it was Charigod and Bluchu. I also would hear they appeared in the visible grass outside the barriers at Pallet Town. Mew was under the truck in the SS Anne area.

Someone on Gamefaqs uploaded a "cheat code" where if you held Up + A while throwing a ball, it would make every Pokeball a Master Ball.

It didn't work obviously but it was a superstitious habit I carried for years

I heard something similar and always thought it was dumb, while thinking pressing A right as the ball hits the pokemon was somehow more useful. I still do it even though I know it doesn't help.

I did this too, but it was holding A down from the press and then tapping it on each shake.

Also they got me with the rocket launch in Mossdeep to get Deoxys. Also my friends shiny Charizard he tried to tell me he didn't get with GameShark.

Back in 5th grade, one kid kept telling me you could catch Mewtwo in Emerald. First he said you could catch it in Cave of Origin, then he said that you were able to catch it in Route 113 of all places (pic related). Then there was this other time a kid stole some Pokemon from my Fire Red save by transferring them to his Diamond game, and said that to get them back I needed to complete the National Pokedex. Before gen 5 released, I remember spouting some bullshit myself about there being another Sinnoh game after HGSS where Arceus was gonna be the box art legend and some dipshit tried to act like he already knew.

I don't wanna be a genwarfag but like, the amount of times I've heard people say Sinnoh is amazing is completely contradictory to how I've felt playing Sinnoh games. Maybe I can't see it but damn I really don't enjoy it.

Unfortunately, I did not. But I got back at him afterwards, I took his Lv.100 Dragonite, Feraligatr, and Empoleon away from him. It was accidental, since I erased my save file with them on it and I was intending to return them, but I decided not to feel too bad about it since he had stolen my mons prior. He didn't complain too much either, so maybe he understood that.
