Playing SM right now, thinking of SOS chaining for a shiny. If I put a dead synchronize mon on the front does that still count for SOS chaining? Basically not sure if it counts it at battle start, or when the pokemon shows up via the SOS signal for the nature.

Speaking of, I'm debating about shiny Galar birds. I have two of the Articuno from the distribution but missed the other two. Go is the only method to get them now, but just a low chance lotto. Should I just try to bargain with people for the other two and hope I don't get obvious genned shit?

Event pokemon are very hard to NOT gen correctly. Seeing as how they have a static encounter, level, OT, ID, etc.

Just go to one of the many discord servers that have sysbots set up to auto trade people, and give them whatever they ask for.

No, since ultimately I figured that checking all spawns would just be more chances. While that's still true, no auto-counter is really lame so I might switch it up and start only encountering BA Yamasks, and instead racking up encounters for the rest of the things in the route instead.

I am aware that no matter what, non-BA aura mons are still full odds.

You need to KO spawns to get new BA ones. I’m pretty sure the increased BA odds are only on ones spawning after a KO. So it’s best (imo) to enter the area, KO every Yamask in the bottom two gass patches, then bike towards the bridge until they refresh and you can chain again. Running away does not get the higher odds, is my understanding.

Shinies from Arceus and SV just feel way too easy which makes shinies feel unexciting, but since I'm also trying to get new-gen shinies, imposing special rules for what shinies "count" based on generation seems autistic. Wish GF didn't pull this welfare shiny shit, it sucks.

I've got boxes of shinies I got from the GTS in gen 4 that could be mostly legit but I wouldn't know beside obvious shit from impossible locations.
I go for shinies without a safety net usually so I lost an ultra beast but that keeps the thrill alive when I find them.

Got a couple hunts going currently that I return to off and on when the mood strikes since I usually don't have the patience to continuously hunt for too long at a time.

Personally, I think some current methods/games boost odds a bit too much, so I try to go full odds when I can, but when I think about stuff like Arceus and the million cutscenes, I can't blame people too much.
