Codenames always have meaning, they're just not always obvious to us. Titans ended up being a pretty important part of SV, and for example SWSH's codename can be seen as a direct reference to its title.

Italian and Greek history/culture stand out so much on their own to most of the world that if anywhere in that area were conjoined for one region I think it would be more likely to be Greece + Turkey + Cyprus with maybe bits of Bulgaria and N. Macedonia especially because none of those latter countries would ever get their own region standalone.. Maybe Turkey for like Gen 23...
