There was already in Sinnoh myth with how it said human and pokemon were of no different (in original nip it was "sharing same dining table" which implied marriage) and how they intentionally appeared in tall grass to help human and not getting caught against their will. This interspecies breeding shit was likely the draft of those myth before they decided to tone them down/made them more ambiguous.
