The legendary birds in XY finally roost in the "Sea Spirit's Den", which presumably refers to Lugia. So that's been confirmed for a while. However a lot of the other stuff on that chart is still unconfirmed, even if a pantheon is still confirmed to exist with an updated version of this sigil being visible in HGSS Sinjoh Ruins and PLA Hall of Origin.

They wanted 3 Pokemon from each region (Kanto/Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh). So Salamence couldn't be fitted in and they had to try and pick a third psuedo/legendary from Kanto/Johto so they were stuck between Gyarados and Snorlax (who both had unique interactions in RBY/GSC).

Only the outer ring contains mythical Pokemon. So Heatran would make more sense than Darkrai in the inner circle. The fact that Darkrai is an event-exclusive mythical rather than being part of the base-game alongside Cresselia (like Latios/Latias were) suggests that it came along much later in development.

Darkrai was originally planned to be a roamer. Roaming behavior is implemented for it in the games, but it’s unused. It being a mythical is likely a late decision

I feel like Jirachi kind of gets cucked in his own games. Adding some stuff for Deoxys in Episode Delta made for a better throughline since it's usually implied to be malicious (so it makes sense to fight him) and an enemy to Rayquaza in other Pokemon media.

I'm happy bros, so many of my favourite mons made it in:

>Metagross
>Jirachi
>Celebi
>Ho-oh
>Dragonite

Plus other major legendaries that are sweet. But the first four that I listed (aside from maybe celebi) aren't given tons of lore/media attention. So I'm v happy they're included in the pantheon of gods and legends.

I think you can still combine them.
1) You make giratina one of the giants, but this one was given special favor by arceus as a destroyer god, but then took advantage of its powers and had to be sealed away
2) Gira was created afterwords from further remnants

I'm sure we can reconcile things. But at the same time, I kinda like how they are all similar but slightly different, just like real ancient myths in our world.
