Which is not only completely insane by itself, it also spits on actual victims by comparing a harmless drawing to an extremely traumatic experience that is often literally life ruining. It makes people take that stuff less seriously on top of that as well.
I'm pretty sure those people grew up on tumblr. Stuff like kinning was largely normalised on there, which caused irreparable damage to adolescents spending their formative years on that website because it completely blurs the line between fiction and reality. It's basically self-induced schizophrenia.
The fact that this shit got even worse the last few years is proof that it's a mental health issue. Covid made those individuals spend even more time on the internet, so they completely lost their touch with reality. It's also Americans in 90% of cases, who obviously don't have easy access to mental health care. Those people are truly fucked, and they are dragging everyone else down with them. It's sad, but they are despicable. People need to tell them to shut the fuck up and "touch grass" as they say.
