The pal catching EXP grind is worse than anything in PLA, and the tech tree is so rigid that the game has zero replay value, everyone always has to use the exact same pals because mounts are unlocked in a set order (mounts being the only thing that matters due to combat use of the pals being extremely lame).
Even the base building system is one of the shallowest implementations of that Rust-style building system, meaning you can't make anything cool, and it doesnt matter anyway since the pals are just constantly getting stuck on walls and starving.
It's basically only fun until the novelty wears off and then its just a miserable slog of a survival crafting game with nothing to really grab me.
