Natu is the primary encounter besides unknown in the ruins of alph, which is a huge location of note in johto. I thought about shuckle but Krys is a good girl and would definitly give him back.

Aside from the legendaries, Gen 1 also had Magicarp, Hitmonchan/Hitmontop. and the Fossils. Yet Red never uses any of them. Just to show that it's retarded to assume that only gift/static encounter Pokemon can be the "proper canon team" Pokemon.

Also, only two of Hilda's Pokemon are obtainable before the postgame.

the fossils/hitmons are a choice. The ones they picked for Red specifically don't leave anyone out. Even Espeon before it was replaced with Lapras was a sort of generic choice for Eevee, being a happiness evo during the day(as there was no night cycle in gen 1) rather than any of the stone evos. If there was a 7th pokemon it would likely have been gyarados. The canon teams aren't a "He only uses these pokemon" but more of "almost any player could theoretically have and use these pokemon." for a more immersive battle. Even if you didn't necessarily use all of these pokemon you most likely at least had them.

the protagonists are meant to represent every player, so they should have the three starters, and the rest are either gift or static encounters of pokemon introduced in their respective gen. that was the logic behind red's team and should have continued for the others

I'm not a fan of Yellow either, but it was the game many players started with and for all intents and purposes, it's virtually the same game as red/green/blue. if it were up to me, I would have switched pikachu for aerodactyl, but I can understand why they picked it

Retard, Yellow is the one game you can actually obtain every starter AND Pikachu, it's clearly the one Gen 2's Red was based off of.
