Regigigas creates shit, that's entirely counter-intuitive to what the Giants are described as doing in all the myths. Maybe he was the oddball, and he turned on them to work with Arceus because unlike them, he likes existence [explaining why he doesn't just fucking kill himself if he hates existing so much] and making shit, that's why he gets to have a plate, is part of the cosmology under Arceus and all that.
But then, like Prometheus giving mankind fire, Regigigas makes the Regis, IE mini-giants, for whatever reason. Maybe he just wanted to make frens, maybe he was building an army, maybe there wasn't a real reason for it, but this makes Arceus mad as fuck, and starts a giant fucking fight.
End result, Regigigas gets to keep his lil Giants, but he has the curse now to make sure he never gets any fucking ideas about trying anything and in the course of all this it makes him mad as fuck, hence why he's so willing to throw hands with Dialga and Palkia given the slightest figleaf and excuse.
It cleans up any and all discrepancies and explains how he's alive, how he's got his place in the official sephirot thing, and yet why he as the curse and shit.
